An interesting proposal to explore the vast and varied geography of the argentinean
Puna, which is plagued ofamazing landscapes. Inhospitable lands that lodge
mysterious towns, cradles of rich pre-Columbian cultures. A territory that
urges us to recall its customs and invites to the adventure.
Program
First day. Salta.
Reception in the City of Salta at noon. Lunch and exit towards Cafayate crossing
the Gorge of the River of the Conchas, a gigantic natural monument where there
are numerous and attractive rocky formation. Lodging in hotel or farm. Supper.
Second day. Salta - Cachi.
After visiting a typical farm, where the Torrontes wine is made, we continue
by the Calchaquies Valleys to Molinos, where we will stop to lunch and to
visit it's church. Later, we will pass through Seclantés, where we
will be able to see its famous looms. During this day we will see small and
colorful towns where grapevines and sowing of pimenton are practised, arriving
at the ende at Cachi. Lodging in Hotel Cachi. Typical supper in the plaza.
Third day. Cachi - Susques.
We start off early with North course towards Abra of the Acay by the rute
40, stopping in the Bridge of the Devil and passing through the Poma. We ascend
until the 4895 meters and we continued to San Antonio of Cobres. Lunch in
the town, and then we retook the march to the Viaduct of the Polvorilla (Train
of the clouds) and the pueblito Sey, journeying solitary tracks of Salteña's
puna. At the arrival at Susques, we will lodge in a hotel, which is by its
location and design: the Unquillar. Delicious supper.
Fourth day. Susques - Yaví.
Exit of Susques, which is a town of indigenous origin and mining importance,
with North course to visit the less visited region of Jujeña's puna,
furrowing beds of rivers, deep canions, strange tracks and a lot of endless
ways forgotten in the immensity a surprising geography. Lot of small towns
will pass to our sides: Coranzuli, Mina Pirquitas, Orosmayo, Cusi Cusi, Paicone,
Santa Catalina and other secrets to discover. Towards the end of the day we
will arrive at Yaví, lodging in its hotel. Supper.
Fifth day. Yaví - Iruya.
Route by small and colorful dispersed towns in a great rocky desert. We will
pass through Opens Pampas and after crossing part of the Route 9 we will turn
to the East, towards Abra of the Condor, to cross union of the Mountain ranges
of Santa Victoria and Zenta and to descend abruptly towards Iruya. In our
way of going, we will take pass through cultures of Colanzulí and entering
a great aluvional crack we will arrive at the channel of the Colanzulí
river, which will drive us to Iruya. Opening a passage between its narrow
streets, we will arrive at the Hotel Iruya, site in which we will lodge.
Taking advantage of the last hours the day, we will walk by the intrincate
streets of the town, being able to know its form, its essence, its places
and its church, rallying point for the people of the zone. We return to the
hotel for the supper.
Sixth day. Iruya - Purmamarca.
Exit towards Humahuaca. View to its streets, visit to the fair and lunch.
Then, we continue towards Tilcara, site that goes back to Incas' Era. Brief
walk through its streets. We continued to Purmamarca. Later, a look to the
Hill of the Seven Colors, and finally lodging in the Hotel Spring of Silence
(or another one according to election). Supper in typical place, in front
of the park.
Seventh day. Purmamarca - Salta.
We began to go down towards the Yunga, passing by the lagoons of Yala. Quick
stop by the city of San Salvador de Jujuy and from to Salta by the old route
of yungas .Full stop of our trip. Lodging in Hotel Salta. Dinner.
